Two Tools for Digging into God's Word

1) The Bible Recap

This tool is excellent for anyone who wants to read the Bible but is unsure where to start. The Bible recap is a chronological devotion series that walks you through each book of the Bible, starting from Genesis to Revelation.
The Bible Recap offers a Daily Reading plan and a short Daily Podcast that goes along with the reading for the day.  Each day you can read the assigned reading, then tune in to The Bible Recap  Podcast after you've finished reading. Pairing the two together will give you a greater understanding of what is happening within the text. Also, it is a great way to get a new perspective on the day's scripture.

2) S. O. A. P  Notes

Scripture.  Observation.  Application.  Prayer.

the How to use SOAP
Scripture: Open your Bible to your reading for the day. Take time reading and allow God to speak to you. When you are done, Focus on the verses that stood out to you. Then write them down on paper; typically, this will include one or two verses. However, you may jot down as many as you're comfortable writing.

Observation: Take note of what is taking place in the text. Who is involved? Who is the audience? Notice what words or ideas stand out to you.
Your observations can include notes from one specific section or the whole chapter. This process will help you understand the context of the scriptures.

Application: Ask God how the scripture applies to you. You may ask God: What changes do I need to make? Is there an action that I need to take?

Prayer: In the last section, offer a personal prayer to God.

Soap notes are based on how detailed you want to be. One beneficial aspect of SOAP notes is that there is no time Limit. Studying the Word like this can take up to 10 minutes to a few hours, depending on your leisure.

Helpful Note: The Bible Recap is good for reading large sections of scripture.
On the other hand, SOAP notes helps the reader focus on  a few scriptures at a time.
These tools can be used together for a well- rounded study.
